Meet Our Team
Amelie (Amy)
Amy first came to Barataria Dental, LLC in 1978 as Dr. Guy’s dental assistant. She now helps lead the team with Dr. Valerie and Dr. Maria as the Office Manager. She attended LW Higgins High School in Marrero. She has trained as an Expanded Duty Dental Assistant and is certified in Radiology. She has over 30 years of experience in the dental field. Over the years, Amy has been an assistant, coordinator and office manager. She is married to Claude and has three sons, Victor, Bryan and Chad. She’s lived in Crown Point since 1969 and enjoys Scrapbooking, cooking, fishing and traveling.
Trang
Trang is a registered dental hygienist and has practiced since 2001. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene along with an additional license to administer local anesthesia from the University of Louisiana at Monroe. Trang continues to grow in her profession by attending continuing education courses. She provides patients with thorough and effective treatment with a focus on preventive care. Trang and her husband have three wonderful sons and reside on the Westbank.
Maranda
Maranda is Dr. Valerie’s right-hand and smiling Clinical Assistant. She attended Blue Cliff College and received her dental assisting and x-ray certification in 2015. Working at Barataria Dental is the culmination of her goal to be a dental assistant since she was a freshman at L.W. Higgins High School. Maranda, her husband Chris, and their daughters Rylee and Andi live in Marrero.
Chelsea
Chelsea will greet you when you call for an appointment with Dr. Valerie. As her Patient Coordinator, she makes sure to explain our financial options and encourages patients to improve their oral health with regular dental care. She attended Blue Cliff College for her dental training and x-ray certification in 2016. She enjoys spending her free time with her husband Daniel and children Brendon, Colston, and Evangeline.
Nona
Nona rejoined our team as Dr. Maria’s treatment coordinator in July 2018. She has been in the dental field for over 25 years. Nona graduated from LW Higgins in 1983, went to Delgado Community College for 2 years, and then to Eastern College for Dental Assisting. She is married to Aldo Duron and has two children, Brooke and Aldo Jr. Her grandson Allen is the newest addition to the family. Nona and her family live in Marrero. When she is not at Barataria Dental, her hobbies are dancing and working with her family in Duron’s Home Improvement.
India
Kelsey
Kelsey is a dedicated hygiene assistant for Trang, our hygienist. She is certified in radiology and keeps all of our hygiene patients comfortable. She will be calling you to remind you of your cleaning appointment!
Ashley
Ashley is a clinical chairside assistant for the doctors and also organizes our sterilization area. She earned a radiology certificate at LSU Dental School. She is expecting her second daughter in July, 2023.
Amy
Amy is our technology and clinical assistant. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Education. Amy and her husband Mike have two children. Amy has been a patient at Barataria Dental since she was a baby herself!
